Villa Fattoria Badia di Morrona, Terricciola - Pisa in Toscana
Le prime notizie certe sulle sue origini risalgono alla fine del secolo XI: inizialmente assegnata ai Monaci Benedettini, questi nel 1120 furono sostituiti dai monaci Camaldolesi. Il monastero è stato infatti dedicato a S. Maria e a S. Benedetto ed il più antico documento conosciuto che ad esso fa riferimento è la conferma fatta nel 1089 dal Conte Uguccione, figlio del Conte Guglielmo Bulgaro. Le proprietà del Monastero furono ulteriormente arricchite di nuove giurisdizioni dai figli del Conte Bulgaro negli anni 1098 e 1109; tale possedimento fu successivamente convalidato dai Pontefici Celestino II nel 1121, Innocenzo II nel 1141 ed Eugenio III 1148. La Badia di Morrona venne gestita dai Monaci Camaldolesi fino al 1482 quando il Vescovo di Volterra, con cui vi erano state nel corso dei secoli alterne vicende, si impossessò "manu militari" del Monastero e lo trasformò nella propria residenza estiva.
